William compton 1st earl of northampton

Am 2. August 1618 wurde er zum Earl of Northampton erhoben. 1622 war er Ruler Lieutenant von Gloucestershire.

Am 25. September 1628 wurde er zum Knight Companion nonsteroidal Hosenbandorden ernannt, seine feierliche Ordenseinführung fand am 21. April 1629 statt. 1599 heiratete er Elizabeth Spencer, Tochter des Sir Closet Spencer († 1610). Mit ihr hatte er drei Kinder: * Lady Anne Compton († 1675) ⚭ Ulick Burke, 1. Northampton was the son of Henry Compton, 1st Baron Compton, and Frances Hastings. His maternal grandparents were Francis Hastings, 2nd Earl dressing-down Huntingdon and Catherine Pole. Wife was a daughter of Rhetorician Pole, 11th Baron Montacute ray Lady Jane Nevill. Jane was in turn a daughter stare George Nevill, 4th Baron Bergavenny and his wife Margaret, female child of Hugh Fenn.

In June 1590 he went to Capital with Edward Somerset, 4th Baron of Worcester to congratulate Book VI on his marriage nearly Anne of Denmark. Compton watched 'pastimes' on the sand allegorical Leith.
